12 London Famous Streets & The Cutest Notting Hill Colorful Houses

As a tourist, and even when you live in London, London famous streets and the amazing colourful houses in Notting Hill boast something very attractive. The roads are clean and large, and the Notting Hill houses would be the most instagrammable places in London even if they didn’t try to.

It’s like every house is more colorful than the next, and it’s been done on purpose. When I see this kind of coloured house street in London, I usually wonder why the city itself isn’t entirely painted in a colorful way.

I’ve wondered about this since I was a child, actually – it’s not just the Notting Hill houses and their London Instagram spots that brought this thought to my mind. Why do people spend so much money on a beige or light pink paint color instead of brightening up their lives with vivid colors? Can’t understand.

Anyway – if you’re at a Notting Hill cafe, or having a Saturday brunch in Notting Hill, then a calm walk to those London famous streets is what you want to do afterward. There’s nothing better than colorful places when you visit a new city, and I’ll show you how just now!

1. Uxbridge Street

Uxbridge Street offers some of the cutest houses in Notting Hill. The cool thing about this area is that even if Uxbridge Street is not that out there, it does lead to the London famous streets like Farm Place and Callcott Street.

I like finding underrated Instagrammable places in London – fewer tourists, cute places where you can take some snapshots for your feed or just have a quiet stroll with a coffee to go in your hand.

When you go to the colorful houses streets in Notting Hill and just wander off Portobello Road or Lancaster Road, it’s a different vibe that you’ll feel. It’s calm, it’s expensive, and it sells you a dream like no other London famous streets can.

2. Colville Terrace

Colville Terrace is one of the most Instagrammable places in London with its very clean windows and facades. The colors and muted and very English, if I may say so. A deep red, some romantic blues, and lavenders… It’s one of the most famous streets in Notting Hill, and maybe one of the most famous London streets as well.

Back when I was an active fashion makeup artist, I remember doing makeup and doing the photoshoot in front of a nearby Notting Hill cinema, after which we’ve spent a lot of time in front of these houses in Notting Hill. People were looking at us a bit strangely, but London is London and no one really said anything.

Those coloured houses are really pretty and posh, and when you’re wondering what to do in Notting Hill, Colville Terrace is just as great a place as any of the coolest London Instagram spots.

3. Quiet Colorful Houses in Notting Hill: St Lukes Mews

St Lukes Mews is one of London famous streets because of the movie Love Actually. Many, many people look for the most instagrammable places in London when they travel to the city, and it’s understandable why they would want to take a picture in front of this London landmark.

When the Notting Hill colorful houses are set in mews, I always know that I’m in the poshest areas in London. Those houses were stables for horses at some point back in time – which is why they’re called mews, innit.

Those kinds of houses in Notting Hill are very much sought after, they’re expensive, beautiful, and quiet. I love going around St Lukes Mews as it’s definitely one of the top Instagram places in London. However, I like to snap my shots quickly and quietly. If people have bought their house in a quiet place, it’s understandable they’d like to remain the place to be quiet.

4. Colorful Houses in London Famous Streets: Hillgate Place

Hillgate Place is one of the best streets to find colorful houses in Notting Hill. I love bright colors and when I’m taking a seat in a Notting Hill cafe, I like finishing my breakfast and setting out to day-brightening walks. What we have here with Hillgate Place is one of the most Instagram worthy places in London.

It’s not that everything revolves around Instagram. It’s that even if you’ve recently deactivated your account, when you’re in front of the cutest pastel and bright Notting Hill houses, it just makes you want to post some of those colorful places. That’s just the way it is, the London famous streets tend to have this effect on me.

5. Pretty Colorful Houses Notting Hill: Portobello Road

I love Portobello Road. It’s not only one of the most famous streets in London, it also houses some of the most beautiful, colorful houses in Notting Hill.

Portobello Road Market is packed on Saturdays and Sundays, but it’s also open during the week. That’s definitely on a weekday that you should come if you want to see Instagrammable cafes in London at their quietest. Not only the cafes but instagrammable restaurants and surroundings. During the weekend, you can barely walk straight as there are so many people taking their time to enjoy the market vibe.

You might know that I’m a sucker for independent shops, coffee shops, and bakeries in London. Well, Portobello Road is filled with colorful houses and the coolest coffee shops as well. I’ll say no more – if you’re looking to have a great time in one of the best London Instagram spots, you’re in for a treat.

6. Elgin Crescent

Elgin Crescent is one of those Instagrammable places in London that not too many people know of. It’s a quiet residential spot and the Notting Hill houses there are very much autumn-themed. Yellows, greys and blues have set their position as the basic colors of this colorful street in London.

If you’re wondering what to do in Notting Hill after a brunch or a breakfast for instance, why not walk around the area? You’re bound to find other colorful houses in nearby streets as well. Elgin Crescent is one of the very old streets in London, and some of the houses are almost two centuries old. See? Color makes you live longer.

7. Most Colorful Notting Hill Houses: Lancaster Road

This is one of the London famous streets with colorful houses in Notting Hill that quite anyone knows. Lancaster Road is one of the most Instagrammable places in London, and I’ve quite frankly not seen many other streets with that kind of personality.

My favorite coloured house in Lancaster Road is the dark blue one – we don’t often see dark houses in Notting Hill and that’s really a nice change. For fashion London Instagram spots, it’s definitely a street that you want to visit. However, be quick and quiet, once again. Maybe it’s just me, but even when I find Instagram worthy places in London, I try and be as respectful as I can of the people who live there.

The houses in Notting Hill might be the cutest Instagram spots, but people have bought their tranquility and they should be able to enjoy it, in my opinion. Still, those are the best colourful houses London in my eyes (along with some others in North London that I can’t wait to tell you about!).

8. Farm Place

Farm Place, along with Farmer Street, are some of the very Instagrammable London famous streets. They’re filled with pastel houses in rows and rows of Instagram goodness, and I’m just here for it.

The quietness of the area is just magical. Also, since you’re looking for colorful Instagram worthy spots in London – Farm Place is located not too far from Holland Park where you can find the ethereal Kyoto Garden. Take a nice long stroll from the colored Notting Hill houses to what I regard one of the best parks in London, and you’ll understand what I mean.

9. Pretty Coloured Houses in Notting Hill: Callcott Street

Callcott Street is definitely one of the most instagrammable places in London in terms of colorful Notting Hill houses. I sometimes wish there were not that many cars in those Instagram worthy spots as they do tone down the best outfits people prepare for those photo sessions.

Callcott Street is located very close to all the other Notting Hill streets I’ve mentioned, which means you can go to one of the Instagrammable restaurants in London, have a beautiful lunch, and then walk your way to digestion in Callcott Street. These rainbow rows of colorful houses are just life.

10. Most Colorful Houses in Nottinh Hill: Westbourne Park Road

I think Westbourne Park Road is one of the most famous streets in London. I think that pink house gets a lot of the credit for making this Notting Hill Street one of the coolest Instagramable places in London. When there are streets like that in the area, it’s not hard to know what to do in Notting Hill. The houses just attract you like a moth to a flame with their amazing shades of pinks, blues, greys, and whites.

The colors are bright and bold, and I’d suggest going there early if you don’t want to have to wait for ages to take some pictures in front of the colorful houses. Many, many people go there and it’s easy to understand why. The beauty of the area and of those Notting Hill colorful houses is second to none. I wish we had pink houses everywhere in the world.

11. Instagrammable Places in London: Tavistock Road

Tavistock Road offers some of the most expensive houses in Notting Hill. It’s much more quiet than Instagrammable places in London like Portobello Road. To be fair, sometimes you can find Instagram worthy places around the corner, just a stone’s throw away from another very famous street. Except that they will be less visited, making them amazing streets to take pictures in London.

I like how quiet this place is, and how posh it is without looking too out-there. There’s really something for everyone in Notting Hill, from decadently-priced colorful houses to more muted coloured places that almost don’t look the part. Love Tavistock Road.

12. Denbigh Terrace

The last one on my list; Denbigh Terrace offers beautiful colourful houses in London. Farm Girl Notting Hill, one of the most famous restaurants in London for brunch, is located not too far. If you combine both Instagramable colorful street and Instagrammable restaurant, you’ll have spent quite a nice moment in Notting Hill.

There’s also a Gail’s Bakery close by and if you’ve never had their unforgettable cinnamon rolls, now’s the time to try. Denbigh Terrace is definitely one of the best Insta worthy spots in London with its beautiful Notting Hill colorful houses, so lace up your shoes, and don’t forget to charge your camera!
