9 Best Halal Cafes in London For Coffee & Brunch

I know lots of you are often looking for the best halal cafes in London, and how could you not? The breakfast and brunch culture is so important over here in the UK, what with the habit of getting a coffee-to-go in the morning before work, or sitting down to enjoy a great halal breakfast in London during the weekend. I might have written about the best halal brunch in London a while back, as well as the best halal Full English breakfast, but this guide to the best halal cafes in London has been in the works for some time, I have to admit it.

Yet, I’ve been busy talking about the best certified halal food in East London, Knightsbridge, and Mayfair… and I’ve just realized I’d left out the oh-so-important halal cafes. Because I mean, aside from Pret or the cool but quite basic plant-based meal deals you can get from Tesco, you know… Sometimes, you really just want to enjoy a great halal brunch and a cup of coffee without having to wonder whether the food is halal or not, and what are your options. No. You want the full menu to be halal – and halal certified if possible.

Now that we’re here, let’s discover the best halal cafes in London – delicious restaurants in East London, West London, and some in the North: just a bit of everything for everyone. Of course, I’ve only focused on halal places to eat where you’ll enjoy the great taste and an amazing atmosphere whoever you’re going with.

Okay, so as I like to remind you guys often as I write about the best halal restaurants in London, I don’t eat only halal meat at all. Actually, I started the halal series for my younger sister, who lives in France. The goal was for her to have a lot of choice when she visits me here. However, as I’m writing this, I’d also like to highlight that I’ve been avoiding all types of animal products as much as possible lately.

As such, aside from not drinking milk or eating dairy products, I obviously don’t eat eggs, or meat, or fish anymore. It’s more a question of protecting my own health than for any other reason, but something is pushing me to share this piece of information. I might not eat entirely halal, but a fully halal cafe in London is something that I’ll be very precise about. It’s the same whether I write about the best halal restaurants in Canary Wharf, the best halal sushi in London, or the best halal Michelin starred restaurants

Just because I don’t only eat halal meat doesn’t mean I will not pay attention to the quality of the cafe or restaurant. Plus, the fact that this series is primarily aimed at my sister means that I really pay attention to all the bits and bobs that make a halal cafe one of the greatest halal cafes in London. Now that this is out of the way, let’s get on with the best halal cafes in London for brunch, Full English Breakfast, and more amazing delicacies!

Halal Breakfast in London: Grounded

When it comes to halal cafes in London, I can’t decently remember just how many times I’ve mentioned Grounded here. If you’re looking for the best halal breakfast in London, that’s decently one of the best places for a halal Full English. And more.

Much more than just halal Full English breakfast, even if that’s the very item for which I visit Grounded time and time again. Given that it’s located in Aldgate East near Bethnal Green and Mile End where I used to live, I used to visit Grounded to get my halal breakfast pretty often at that time.

Now that I’ve moved up North to North Finchley, I haven’t been in a while but if you’d also just like to get some of the best pastries in London along with a great cup of Earl Grey or the best hot chocolate in London, then you should definitely visit. Thaty’s some of the best halal food in East London right about there, and you defo won’t regret the visit.

Great with friends, your other half, or even solo during the week when you want to reflect on all the tasks you have to do. And it’s halal certified food that Grounded serves, with no alcohol or pork on the menu.

Halal Breakfast in London: Simit Sarayi

Honestly, when it comes to finding halal cafes in London, I think one of my favourite places will be forever Simit Sarayi. This is one of the bakeries that offers all kinds of treats; savoury, sweet, coffee, amazing hot chocolate, and tea all rolled into one. Many times, when I was looking for a halal cafe in Oxford Street, my first choice would be this place because you can grab a lot of delicious bites for a very affordable price and just have a good moment there.

What makes Simit Sarayi that much more attractive is the fact that it’s an international brand, that started in Turkey and expanded to lots of other countries. If you’d like to get a halal breakfast in London, they have quite a few cafes in Oxford Street, King’s Road, Shaftesbury Avenue, Green Lanes, and some other addresses. And in all of them, their borek and puff pastry rolls are out of this world

If you’re not looking for a halal cafe for breakfast and would just like a midday treat, then you should definitely try some of their cakes. They’re absolutely amazing, and top those of many other cafes in London. I did mention Simit Sarayi in my guide to the best spots for halal breakfast in London a while back, so you should defo take a look at that article if you want to learn about more amazing halal spots in the city!

Best Halal Cafes in London: Rabbit Hole Cafe (North)

To be honest, I’ve only been to the Rabbit Hole Cafe a couple of times, but the moments I’ve spent there were really amazing. It’s usually a quiet place, with lots of locals coming as they’re looking for delicious halal breakfast in London. I love the fact that the venue is so big, and you can definitely come with some friends or fam to get your halal Full english during the week or the weekend without fearing that you won’t have space to seat.

What I mostly love about the Rabbit Hole Cafe is the fact that there are seats in front of the cafe where you can seat when the sun is out and just chill in peace. I love that – halal cafe or not, I want to feel free and like I’m really enjoying a peaceful moment. Probably the best halal brunch in London as well if you’re looking to build up your own plate, get some pastries, some drinks, or an already-made plate.

All the food is halal in this North London cafe, so you can really enjoy all that you want. No pork, no alcohol, and lots of the best charity shops in London located closeby so you can even go shopping right after if you’re feeling like getting some amazing secondhand books or amazingly cheap clothes.

Halal Breakfast in London: Dulce Coffee

Like Grounded, I’ve mentioned Dulce Coffee here more times than I could actually recall. That is there truly one of the best halal cafes in London, coupled with a touch of greasy spoon and instagrammable vibes. I love this coffee and wherever I am in London, I would visit again and again and again. You’ve never gotten service so friendly in London, and the owner is one of the nicest people I’ve met in London personally.

If you’re looking for the greatest halal brunch in London or a halal Full English, then that’s definitely a place you need to try. Word. Their turkey rashers and beef sausages are among some of the highest-quality I’ve tried in a halal Full English so far, and that’s saying something, because I’ve tried quite a lot. I love going to East London, and as I often say it, I’ll always be an East London girl at heart.

Halal certified food, amazing pancakes with great whipped cream, maple syrup, honey, fresh fruits… All the goodness in the world is right there at Dulce Coffee. Also called Dulce Cafe, this independent halal cafe is an overall amazing place that I’ve brought lots of friends to because it’s just that amazing.

Best Halal Cafes in London: Coffee Garden

Leytonstone is not one of the areas I go to that often, however there is a tremendous number of halal restaurants in Leytonstone that are worth visiting, and one of them is definitely Coffee Garden. This place is fully halal, with a great menu catered for breakfast, brunch, and lunch.

As such, if you’re looking to get a halal full english breakfast or a few plates to build up your own brunch as I often do, there you’ll have everything you need. In terms of halal food in East London, this is some of the best that you can get, and if you’re ready to travel to Leytonstone, then that’s a big win right there.

For lunch, you can get one of their amazing halal steaks, sandwiches, or light plates. Fresh food, halal desserts, great coffee and a really nice garden that will make you feel like you’re outside while you’re eating. Just a really great find when it comes to halal cafes in London.

Halal Cafes in London: Drunch Mayfair (West)

Drunch has two spots in London, and the cafe I’d like to mention here is the one in Mayfair. It’s located super close to Bond Street, so if you’re ever shopping in Central London, then you can definitely take a rest at Drunch Mayfair and enjoy some of the best pastries in London, specialty coffee, and take pictures in front of the super instagrammable entrance.

If you’ve been looking for instagrammable halal cafes in London, that’s going to be a place to check out. As flowery as lots of amazing cafes in Chelsea or South Kensington, it’s a nice, feminine vibe that Drunch Mayfair has. That means that if you want to take your other half on a date or maybe just have a girls moment out, Drunch Mayfair is going to be the perfect halal brunch spot.

Since 2013, the London scene has been lucky to taste some of the best avocado toasts, pastries, and countless egg recipes at Drunch Mayfair. It’s cozy and comfortable, friendly and posh, beautiful and laidback all at the same time, and my thought is there aren’t many halal cafes in London that can offer such a cool vibe with all-halal food.

Whether you’re looking to have a halal fine dining experience on the cheaper side or a great halal breakfast, Drunch Mayfair is going to be the spot for you. Even just for coffee or their amazing fresh fruit juices and smoothies, to be fair.

Best Halal Cafes in London: Nest Cafe

I’ve never talked that much about halal restaurants around Willesden Green, and I guess Nest Cafe will be my first. I’ve stayed briefly around this area a few years ago, and I felt that Willesden Green was a very beautiful and peaceful place to be. Nest Cafe is one of the best halal cafes in London if you’re looking for a laidback family spot to get a full English, that’s for sure.

Out of all the places I’m mentioning here today, Nest Cafe is one of the most underrated in terms of halal food in London. The food is absolutely delicious whether you get breakfast, lunch, or pastries, and everything down to even the simplest cup of coffee is flavorful and full of presence. And I mean, coffee as great as that you could find in Italian cafes in London. If you’re a bit tighter on budget, that’s also one of the most affordable halal restaurants in London, so it’s definitely worth a visit.

Best Halal Cafes in London: Bake Street

Another one of the ultimately best halal cafes in London is Bake Street, and if you’re a pastry and sweet treats lover, you definitely will not want to miss out on it. It’s always full of locals coming for their halal breakfast fix, but I can’t highlight enough the fact that all their cakes and pastries are otherworldly.

The only downside to Bake Street would be its location, but if you don’t mind traveling for some of the best halal food in London, then you’ll be oh-so-happy you’ve done so. There are not many halal cafes in London that offer a menu as extensive as Bake Street, with food that fresh, and that’s a fact.

I would definitely recommend coming early in the morning, otherwise just be aware that Bake Street is one of the most popular halal cafes in London, which means it’s also very busy a lot of the times. All the meat is halal there, so if you don’t want their cookies, brownies, or cakes, then you might defo get tempted to try some of their halal burgers for lunch. Certified halal food, delicious burgers, tacos, and bites – once you visit, you will become yet another one of their fans. That’s how amazing this halal restaurant is.

Best Halal Cafes in London: Makan Cafe (West)

If you love Malaysian food, you should definitely check out the guide I’ve written to the best halal Malaysian restaurants in London. That type of cuisine really is on another level, with sambal, roti canai, and curries of another level. No other cuisine in the world resembles Malay cuisine in my opinion, and if you’re of the same opinion, then you’re going to want to visit Makan Cafe, one of the best halal cafes in London.

If you’ve been here before, then you might have seen my personal favorite markets in London. Of course, I mentioned Portobello Market there, and that will forever stay one of my favorites. There, you can find amazing antiques, fashion, used cameras, some of the best pastries in London, and much, much more. And then, at number 270, you have Makan Cafe.

Unlike some halal cafes like Drunch or Dulce Coffee, this is a coffee shop slash street food restaurant. That means that you can get lunch there if you’d like. However, since the restaurant is open from breakfast time to dinner, you can pop in at any time of the day for some Malaysian treats and a cup of coffee before you keep going with your day.

So there you have them, all the best halal cafes in London. Those are places I personally visit as soon as I get the chance – that is, when I’m not trying to find out about new halal certified food places in the city. I couldn’t legitimately tell you about my favorite among those spots whether we’re talking from the halal brunch perspective or the atmosphere. It really depends on you.

For instance, when I’m looking for a delicious halal breakfast in London (as in, halal English breakfast), I’ll most definitely visit Grounded or Dulce Coffee that I’ve alreasdty mentioned quite extensively here on Thge London Rack. They have some of the msot amazing halal food in East London, and anyone who tries their halal Full English would confirm my thought.

However, when I really just want to chill with some coffee and a pastry, I’ll most definitely go to the Rabbit Hole Coffee for a lowkey laidback moment, especially since they have a few seats in front of the cafe where you can just sit and relax.

For a more posh experience, I’d definitely visit Drunch in Mayfair. So you see, whether you’re looking for a laidback or posh moment, there’s a halal cafe in London for everyone and all types of experiences. All you need to do is visit to find out your favorite!
